Getting Married at Villa Balbiano: The Deets
By now, you’ve probably already mentally booked your wedding here and are getting excited over the stunning photo opportunities (same, tbh), but before you say “I do” to Villa Balbiano, let’s go over the details so you’re fully prepared.
Fees:
Villa Balbiano’s wedding cost starts at €50,000 for a 24-hour rental and includes one suite for the couple for preparation, changing, and photoshoots. A two-day event rental and one-night stay (for 12 guests in 6 suites) starts at €100,000. These options are for up to 55 guests at your celebration and are only available on weekdays.
The minimum stay is generally three nights – this is recommended to ensure there’s no stress for the couple and everything can be organized and set up with plenty of time. A three-day event rental includes two nights of accommodation for 12 guests in 6 suites and starts at €200,000. This is available for up to 200 guests at your celebration and is available on weekends too.
Keep in mind that catering, floral arrangements, photography, and a wedding planner will add to your total (a wedding planner is required to arrange suppliers and logistics). To extend your party after hours, there’s an additional €3,000 per hour fee.
Availability:
Villa Balbiano is only open from mid-March to mid-November, so choose your wedding date within that timeframe. It’s also worth noting that this venue has different looks based on the season, so book accordingly.
Travel:
There are a few ways to get to Villa Balbiano. The closest airport is Milano Malpensa where you can rent a car from a selection of 30+ companies. From there, you can take the A9 motorway toward Lake Como, and in about 1 hour you’ll reach the town of Ossuccio (part of the Tremezzina village). If you follow the narrow lakeshore road “Strada Regina”, you’ll see a row of tall cypress trees that lead to a walled garden with stone doors where you can enter the villa.
Alternatively, if you arrive in Milan, you can catch a train from either Milano Cadorna station to arrive at Como Lago station, or from Milano Centrale station (destination Chiasso, Switzerland) and arrive at Como S. Giovanni station.
Villa Balbiano is also accessible by ferry boat or hydrofoil, which definitely adds to the charm and provides a great experience on its own!
Accommodations:
For guest accommodations, you can either stay at the Villa itself (it sleeps up to 32 guests) or there are plenty of luxury hotels and Airbnb’s around Lake Como to keep everyone comfortable and happy!
